"Nature did not put whales on this earth to splash kids while stuck in a pen" - Jane Velez-Mitchell
My girlfriend LOVES Hermanus, she really does. With that being said we never need much of an excuse to head out onto the open the road and make our way down there. Luckily it is only an hour and half drive out of Cape Town.
On an sunny and clear sky day we headed out to get some lunch, spot a few whales and take a million pictures in this charming seaside town.
We honestly weren't expecting to see any whales as the weather had changed by the time we arrived. It was now grey, overcast and the ocean was covered in in a fine mist not leaving much visibility should there be any whales out there. After settling for lunch at one of our favourite spots in town, Harbour House Hotel we were delightfully entertained by two acrobatic whales which we could spot right from our lunch table. Watching these giants of the ocean breaching is one of the most mesmerising things.
After lunch the heavens had cleared up and we headed to the local arts and crafts markets like the tourists we were to buy some mementos. We then moved away from town centre and discovered a quiet little beach where we watched the sun go down and hit the N2 back home.
I travel, I eat & take pics.. sometimes I even work
